Nominet UK have won the Vail Williams sponsored ‘Best Place to Work’ Award, at the glittering Thames Valley Business Awards dinner, for their outstanding people programme of rewards and benefits, health and well-being programmes and a focus on work-life balance.
The 15th Thames Valley Business Awards are the premier multi-category business awards in the region, highlighting the best of business. Vail Williams LLP, the leading real estate advisers, sponsored a new award entitled ‘Best Place to Work’ which attracted entries from businesses in a diverse range of sectors. At the Awards dinner, attended by over 300 business people from across the Thames Valley, the achievements of the finalists were recognised and the winners announced.
Lord Lamont, the guest speaker at the Awards dinner praised the success of the finalists in the face of the recession: “I believe that the recovery from the recession will be very slow and very gradual and that it will be very dependent on the actions of the government. Cutting the deficit will have the biggest impact on businesses, but there are signs, such as the rise in house prices, that the recession is levelling out. There are always opportunities for businesses in a recession and I have enormous admiration for the businesses here that have continued to show growth and development.”
Nominet UK manages the register of almost eight million domain names and they were selected as the winner for the ‘Best Place to Work’ award because they had put in place a people programme whose objective is for their people to think “why would I want to work anywhere else”. Their programme fosters a sense of belonging and includes a good rewards and benefits package, health and wellbeing initiatives and a very flexible approach to maintaining a home/work balance.
Jill Crowther of Nominet UK commented at the Awards dinner: “We try to instill that feeling of flying in all of our employees that singer McFly so aptly describes. We are delighted that this award recognises what we are trying to achieve.”
Ian Rudland, CEO of Vail Williams added his congratulations to Nominet UK: “The Thames Valley Business Awards were a real showcase for businesses that are succeeding despite the tough times in the last year. The quality of the entries in all categories was outstanding and we were very pleased that the ‘Best Place to Work’ award gave businesses the opportunity to demonstrate the success of their culture inside the building as much as the physical environment. All finalists were of a very high standard, but our congratulations must go to Nominet UK for winning the Award.”
