Vail Williams has done it again – winning a hat-trick of industry awards for the second consecutive year at the South Coast’s largest property event.
Held last night at The Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, the South Coast Property Awards celebrate the contributions of property agents, surveyors, developers, dealmakers, planners, architects, consultants and property lawyers to the success of the sector.
The awards cover a large part of the central south coast region, from Weymouth in the west to Haslemere in the east and from the Isle of Wight in the south to Basingstoke in the north.
Vail Williams, which has offices in Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton, won the following categories in the black-tie gala event:
- Offices Consultancy of the Year
- Property Deal of the Year
- The Mark Vincent Lifetime Achievement Award – Russell Mogridge
Alex Gauntlett, a newly-promoted Partner, was also a finalist in the Young Property Person of the Year, an award presented to rising stars under 35.
Russell Miller, Regional Managing Partner for Vail Williams’ South Coast region, said: “To win three awards for the second consecutive year, with so many leading companies as nominees, is great news not only for our proud staff but for our clients.”
Offices Consultancy of the Year was sponsored by CoStar, which used extensive industry-leading database of objective information on deals within the South Coast region in 2022; external nominations were not accepted for the category.
Property Deal of the Year was sponsored by property finance specialists MSP Capital, with the award celebrating a deal or transaction that by its “size, importance or location makes a significant impact on the region”. In this case, it was handmade cosmetics retailer Lush leasing 103,000 sq ft at units A1 and A2 Fleets Corner Business Park, Poole. Joint agents were Goadsby. The industrial deal was one of the largest on the South Coast by square footage.
The Mark Vincent Lifetime Achievement Award was an inaugural – and poignant – category by the event’s headline sponsor Amiri, the Fareham-based construction company. Mark, a popular figure in the regional property world, was one of its directors before his untimely passing last year. The special judges award was given to an individual that has “made a significant impact on the property sector in the region over a number of years”. Judges chose Russell Mogridge, a Vail Williams Partner and LLP member who is head of Agency. With a career built on the South Coast, Russell has played an integral role in many of the region’s major industrial estates and office schemes.
Last night’s event, with 16 categories, was hosted by Hal Cruttenden, a stand-up comedian, writer, presenter and actor.
