A flourishing business hub at a Hampshire marina is close to full occupancy following a quartet of lettings.

Four companies have moved into refurbished office suites at The Slipway, Port Solent, Portsmouth, through property consultancy Vail Williams on behalf of landlord Premier Marinas.

Signings on units 14, 18, 25 and 27 leaves just one of the 27 purpose-built units left – 715 sq ft on the first floor.

The Slipway comprises self-contained offices over two storeys, just a stone’s throw from the marina and a full-service boatyard.

New occupiers are load sensing technology specialist Cyclops Marine, cybersecurity consultancy Modsec, internal fit-out and façade specialists MTEC Walling and Solent Sewing and Welding Machines, which supplies sewing and welding machinery to industrial textile industries along with marine fabrics and accessories.

Matt Cureton, a business space agent at Vail Williams, said: “There is an appetite for businesses to be based in lovely locations which combine the best of work and lifestyle, hence the strong interest from the four companies here at Port Solent.

“We are close to calling full house on The Slipway, with just one unit vacant out of the 27 properties – and we are confident that one will be let in no time at all.”

He added: “With ample parking and proximity to the M27 between Portsmouth and Southampton, and the M275 in and out of Portsmouth, this waterside destination is proving a strong draw.”

Vail Williams is offering flexible lease terms, with a quoting rent of £17.50 sq ft including service charge.

Richard Saville, Premier Marinas’ estates manager, said: “There’s an excellent mix of maritime and general businesses at The Slipway, with workers able to use great facilities on their doorstep at Port Solent, from The Boardwalk’s restaurants and shops to the cinema and David Lloyd health and fitness club.”

Port Solent is one of the largest marinas in the UK, accommodating around 770 yachts afloat plus around 300 boats ashore, with a 40-tonne travel hoist at the boatyard.

An economic hub in the south, the Solent region has 42,000-plus businesses and a population of 1.25 million.
