Property specialist Gurdeep Virdi joins Vail Williams

April 11, 2019

Gurdeep joins the Solent region as an Associate with our Property Asset Management team, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge.

Property consultancy Vail Williams LLP has further expanded its Solent team with the appointment of associate Gurdeep Virdi.

Gurdeep joins the property asset management team from Vine Property Management LLP in Southampton, where he worked for 16 years as management surveyor.

The new role at Vail Williams includes helping occupiers, landlords, developers and investors achieve the best possible outcomes in commercial real estate.

Working out of Southampton, Gurdeep will be supporting the operational management of buildings, alongside realistic strategies to produce growth returns over the short and long term for clients.

He said: “Vail Williams approached me through a third party and it made strong sense to join the business because of its reputation, reach and career opportunity.

“I set up the Southampton office of nationwide firm Vine 16 years ago. Over that time I gained a lot of experience, particularly about my home city of Southampton, which has a mixed economy and which is forecast to grow 1.7% in the year to the third quarter of 2019 – outperforming the predicted UK average.”

According to industry figures, the headline rent for office leases in Southampton, which has a population of 252,400, is £21 a sq ft, with the average rent £16.86 and average lease length of 8.9 years for deals signed last year.

Vail Williams’ Southampton office is Savannah House at Ocean Village. Gary Jeffries, Vail Williams’ Regional Managing Partner, said: “Gurdeep brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to the business, which will benefit our clients through market-leading consultancy, including day-to-day property management services and strategic asset reviews.”

His arrival follows that of Tom Bevan in Southampton – his associate role at Vail Williams includes commercial valuation work on behalf of lenders, including high street banks, and residential development appraisals.

Tom came from Gerald Eve, where he worked for eight years at the London headquarters of the international real estate advisory business.

Vail Williams’ latest acquisition is Chertsey-based New Ballerino, a specialist in property acquisitions and disposals, with a niche client base around Surrey and the Home Counties.

Last June saw Solent-based property consultancy Hughes Ellard merge with Vail Williams, which had also acquired the general rating division of Ruddle Merz and business rate specialists Bisset Moffatt Hill in previous years.

Vail Williams’ full-service property advice includes property valuation, planning and lease advice, investment and development expertise, property asset management and occupier consultancy.
