Challenge
Vail Williams was appointed by Thames Valley Integrated Care Board (ICB) to secure planning permission for the construction of a 25,000 sq ft health centre on land owned by Bracknell Forest Council in Bracknell town centre.
Bracknell Forest Centre for Health will provide a new model of care, bringing together primary care, maternity services, talking therapies and children’s services, to be delivered from an integrated site adjacent to Skimped Hill Health Centre.
How we helped
- Provided expert planning advice to Thames Valley ICB, from pre-planning application through to planning approval and construction, with continued engagement with Bracknell council planners.
- Submitted planning application in January 2024, with designs providing a total of 77 parking spaces and 18 cycle parking spaces.
- Addressed an objection from Highways regarding the impact of parking in the highly sustainable location.

- Secured planning permission in September 2024 to deliver the 25,000 sq ft new healthcare building.
- Supported contractor through construction period in dealing with planning conditions.
- Enabled Thames Valley ICB to bring together existing healthcare services under one roof to support the provision of primary healthcare to the local community and wider Bracknell area.
- The new building will ensure sufficient healthcare provision to meet Bracknell’s population growth with a highly sustainable and flexible healthcare building.
