Vail Williams was appointed to advise on H Smith Food Group’s new purpose built 35,000 sq ft cold store facility in Rainham, Essex.

We acted on behalf of the client, advising on the commercial aspects of the property transaction, agreeing the design and build of the facility, and securing its successful completion within tight timescales.

  • Agreed specification and drawings for the building with developer and design team.
  • Liaised on the detail of the development agreement with all parties involved in the property transaction.
  • Undertook project monitoring of the works on behalf of the client and their funder to ensure completion on time and on budget.
  • Monitored work quality on site.
  • Validated payment requests made by the developer and contractor on behalf of client.
  • Took responsibility for dealing with variations to the original design.
Results

Enabled completion quickly and efficiently, to get the facility fully operational in line with client’s timescales and budget, including the successful commissioning of the cold store down to minus 17°C.
