Challenge

Vail Williams was appointed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust to provide planning advice to support the Trust in achieving planning permission for a new £25m new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Slough town centre.

Our planners worked closely with the Trust to a tight schedule and Slough Borough Council through a planning performance agreement, to complete the planning process in a collaborative and efficient manner.

How we helped
  • Worked with Slough Borough Council to agree a Planning Performance Agreement, ensuring good lines of communication, collaboration, as well as problem-solving between applicant and authority throughout.
  • Undertook pre-application consultation meetings with the Council and community engagement events to ensure efficient stakeholder management.
  • Worked closely with the Council to ensure any issues or queries were addressed swiftly to avoid delays to the planning programme.
  • Monitored applications post-submission to ensure consultee comments were considered and addressed within the plans where necessary.
Result
  • Worked closely with Slough Borough Council to get application from validation to planning committee in just 13 weeks, achieving resolution to grant planning permission at planning committee.
  • The success of this application will ensure the efficient reuse of a formerly vacant site and will see completion of the Community Diagnostic Centre in 2025.
  • Our planning team will continue to support the Trust through the construction process, assisting in the discharge of planning conditions to ensure consistency of communication with Slough Borough Council.

“Vail Williams’ planning team was exceptional – from their technical knowledge to clear and open communication, we had every faith that they would meet the pressing timescales that this project demanded. Thanks to their expertise, we will enable more people to access diagnostic tests more quickly, leading to earlier diagnoses of symptoms and better, more timely treatment.”

Stephen Holmes, Associate Director Capital Projects, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
