Andy joined Vail Williams’ Building Consultancy team in Bournemouth in 2025 as an Associate where he is responsible for supporting the delivery of building surveying services across the South Coast.

An experienced surveyor in the commercial and professional field, he has worked across a variety of sectors throughout his 25-year career, working on education projects (including Higher Education), the finance sector, healthcare and on social housing schemes, as well as for private developers and pharmaceutical companies. He is also experienced in working with the public sector, His Majesties Prison Service (HMPS) and His Majesties Court Service (HMCS).

In education, Andy has worked closely with both the Department for Education (DfE) and Academy Trusts to secure multi-million-pound funding for schools within the south coast area through the Condition Improvement Funding Scheme (CIF) and similar DfE Schemes.  Having gained funding, he has then delivered refurbishment projects, new build projects and external maintenance projects from conception to completion.

His Higher Education work has involved long term maintenance planning (Planned Maintenance Programmes) on various faculty buildings, resulting in the management of maintenance projects as a Contracts Administrator, as well as resolving building defects associated with poor building design.

Healthcare projects have been delivered in both city hospitals and wider cottage hospital settings.  These have ranged from small individual building defect rectification through to acting in both Project Management and Principal Designer roles on largescale building infrastructure projects such as replacement High Voltage power across an entire Southampton Hospital campus.

Projects are demanding with a need for meticulous planning, understanding cause and effect to ensure projects are delivered safely. Andy has always excelled in this environment and enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

In his professional capacity, Andy has also provided dilapidation and due diligence services for various fund managers and bank clients such as Lloyds TSB.

In his spare time, Andy enjoys Paddle Boarding, and more recently has taken up Wing Boarding but admits to spending most of his time in the water rather than on the water! Musically, he enjoys playing the guitar and bass guitar when work and family life permit.
